Australia needs more skilled healthcare professionals than ever in 2026. Many training programs these days focus heavily on theory, which we believe can make concepts harder to grasp and slow down learning, especially once students get into practical work.
This is why our courses are specifically designed to be more hands-on – we invest heavily in the latest equipment, giving our students direct experience with the same tools and ultrasound machines used in our clinics and also other healthcare centres. Working with this equipment helps them to develop the necessary confidence, making sure they're job-ready sooner, and contributing from day one.

Practical, real-world training
State-of-the-art equipment
Train on the same professional tools used in hospitals and clinics: echocardiography machines, manikins, AED trainers and clinical consumables.
Small group training
Echocardiography training is delivered in small cohorts, with direct educator feedback and practical access planned for each intake.
Blended learning
Theory is completed online at your own pace through the Learning Portal while you do your practical training.
Reena Kapadia
Chief Cardiac Sonographer and Educator
Reena has spent more than 15 years in cardiac sonography, working across several public and private cardiology practices in Melbourne.
She has trained more than 50 cardiac sonography students, many having entered the workforce as echocardiographers themselves. Reena personally designs all Scope Institute echocardiography courses and trains students in small cohorts, so that each student can receive direct and personal feedback – she also continues to mentor them as they progress. She is also one of the primary founders of Heartscope – among Melbourne's largest cardiac diagnostic providers – allowing her to bring real clinical experience into each course's curriculum.
After years of teaching students, I truly believe that echocardiography training has to be practical, so from week one I will get you on a machine rather than reading about one. I also make sure that groups stay small enough that I can see exactly what your hands are doing, because that is the only way scanning ever becomes second nature. Whichever course you take, I will be working with you at every stage, and you will have my full support.

Training inside working cardiology practices
Scope Institute is part of the Scope Healthcare group, which is linked with Heartscope, one of the largest cardiac diagnostic providers in Melbourne. Through a direct partnership, students will be able to gain direct exposure to Heartscope's cardiology practices. Selected candidates may later be able to enter a salaried Industry Based Learning position alongside their postgraduate study as well.
