Entry requirements

Parts 1 and 2 completed

You must successfully complete Applied Echocardiography and Clinical Rotations.

Interview and selection

Entry is by interview and Heartscope selection. Successful applicants receive a conditional offer and clinical training support letter before the position starts.

University and ASAR requirements

Before starting, you must meet the university enrolment requirements and hold the ASAR student status required for your clinical training.

Full-time availability

You must be available five days a week at Heartscope clinics while keeping up with your postgraduate study.

Training curriculum

Develop your clinical practice under supervision while completing your postgraduate study.

What the position provides

Frequently asked questions

Will I get a letter for my university application?
Is a position guaranteed after Parts 1 and 2?
No. Places are limited and offered through Heartscope's interview and selection process. You must successfully complete Parts 1 and 2 and meet the university and ASAR student requirements.
Do I enrol in university separately?
Yes. You arrange your own enrolment in an ASAR-accredited postgraduate cardiac sonography course. The university sets its entry and clinical training requirements.
Will I finish my qualification within 72 weeks?
Not necessarily. The training position lasts 72 weeks, but your university course and required clinical experience may take longer.

Reena Kapadia

Chief Cardiac Sonographer and Educator. Reena holds a Diploma of Medical Ultrasonography (Cardiac) from ASUM and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122). She co-founded Heartscope and has over 15 years of experience across several public and private cardiology practices.

Reena has trained more than 50 cardiac sonography students. She teaches every Scope Institute echocardiography cohort in small groups, giving individual feedback and following each student's progress.

Successful applicants train in a salaried Heartscope position for 72 weeks. University fees and other external costs are separate.
