Cardiac Ultrasound: Core Practice
Learn standard cardiac views with supervised scanning and individual feedback.
Practical cardiac ultrasound training, available as individual courses or a complete program.

Learn cardiac image acquisition, then apply it to critical care assessment across five courses. Combine supervised scanning with clinical cases, with training scheduled around your clinical work.
Basic Echocardiography introduces you to cardiac ultrasound. Take it on its own or prepare for our separate three-part career pathway.

Learn cardiac ultrasound through supervised scanning and online study. This introductory program is designed for anyone interested in pursuing a career in cardiac sonography, as well as science and health students. No previous echo experience is needed.
Focus on the areas most relevant to your clinical practice.
Learn standard cardiac views with supervised scanning and individual feedback.
Focused cardiac ultrasound for fluid status, shock and peri-arrest assessment.
Assess LV function, wall motion and ischaemic patterns through guided scanning and clinical cases.
Assess right-heart function, PE-associated findings, pericardial effusion and tamponade.
Explore native and prosthetic valve disease, Doppler and aortic assessment.
Scope Institute echocardiography courses are not currently accredited by a specialist college and no CPD points are attached to them. Applications are in progress with ACEM, ASUM, CICM, ANZCA, RACGP and ACRRM, and each course page will be updated as they are confirmed.
Continue your training through Applied Echocardiography and Clinical Rotations. Selected applicants can then join a real cardiology clinic in a paid, supervised Industry Based Learning position alongside your postgraduate study.
Improve your cardiac ultrasound technique and learn to interpret common findings.
Observe cardiac tests and see how patients are cared for at a real cardiology clinic.
Selected applicants join a real cardiology clinic in a paid, supervised role while completing postgraduate study.
This is a Scope Institute professional training pathway, not an ASAR-accredited university qualification. Most postgraduate cardiac sonography programs require a suitable supervised clinical training position, and such positions are limited. Selected pathway graduates may be offered the Heartscope position in Part 3; the university decides whether the site, supervision and prior experience meet its requirements. Entry to Applied Echocardiography requires Scope Institute's Basic Echocardiography program or equivalent practical training approved by Scope Institute.
